• Laboratory testing

  • Basic testing (i.e. urinalysis, blood counts, strep tests, pregnancy tests) done on site

  • Specimens for complex testing can be collected on site and sent to our mainland laboratory partners for analysis

• Basic cardiac and pulmonary function testing (i.e. EKG, peak flow)

• Routine gynecological (womens' health) care and screenings

• Contraceptive counseling and management

• Urgent care visits (i.e. sprains, cuts, beestings, rashes, coughs)

• House calls for homebound patients on Islesboro

• Initial stabilization of medical emergencies

• Limited ultrasound services (complex or specialized studies still require referral to mainland)

• Mental health counseling

• Coordination with mainland healthcare providers and healthcare agencies

• Referral to mainland medical and surgical specialists

• Limited inventory of prescription and over-the-counter drugs for acute issues (i.e. antibiotics, allergy medications, blood pressure medications)

IHC accepts all major insurance policies including Medicare and MaineCare.  IHC serves all patients regardless of ability to pay.  If you are concerned about your ability to pay for care at IHC, please ask about our sliding scale payment option.  IHC accepts credit cards.
