Elizabeth (Beth) O’Mara is a Family Nurse Practitioner committed to improving the well-being of her patients and the Islesboro community. She holds a Master of Science in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and is pursuing her Doctorate of Nursing Practice. Beth also earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
Beth is certified by the ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner and maintains advanced life support and trauma care certifications. She is a member of the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association and the National Association of Rural Health Clinics. Her professional interests include health promotion, behavioral and physical health care integration, and process improvement. She is passionate about improving access to quality healthcare for underserved populations.
Since joining Islesboro Health Center in 2018, she has provided comprehensive care to patients of all ages, led the transition to electronic medical records, initiated the expansion of the sliding scale program, and partnered with the Islesboro Community Fund to bring dental and behavioral health to the community. As the co-director, she is focused on innovative and sustainable practice management to ensure the Health Center will continue caring for islanders for generations.
